Singing and compositions

Singing Bizet’s Habanera, from his opera, Carmen. The aria is about the dangers and capriciousness of love. The flower in my hair comes from St. Patrick’s Cathedral, in NYC. Even though I mostly invest time in my own compositions these days, I still love to sing the beautiful classics left behind by some of the world’s greatest composers. I believe that as composers and performers, it’s important to honor the past and keep the best of our tradition, which offers so much beauty and color, alive.

Debussy’s Nuit D’etoiles

Here I am singing Debussy's Nuit D'etoiles (Night of Stars) at the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art for “Sight X Sound: An Art and Music Series" on March 1, 2024, with pianist Yuefeng Liu. The concert featured UMKC conservatory musicians, and I was honored to be included. In keeping with the theme, "Monet and his Modern Contemporaries," we had the pleasure of having Monet as our artistic backdrop in the adjacent gallery.
